Our Top Ten Favorite Kills surface at Sam Ashurst's House Of Horror

Sam Ashurst is the man.

He is also Total Film's resident cult horror expert. Every week, he and his House of Horror dissect the latest DVD and Blu-ray releases, uncover hidden gore gems, and rummage through his VHS collection to bring you some of the most bafflingly beautiful video covers from the '80s.

This week, his "Sam Ashurst's House Of Horror: Zombie cops, Mutant Warthogs and Deadly Orcs" piece brandishes another extra little nugget of awesome.

Please enjoy!

And if you see a scene here from a film you haven't seen, please do check it out. There are some REAL goodies there. You won't be disappointed. This Twisted Twosome promises.

Women In Horror Month wins a coveted Rondo Award

The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards were created by David Colton and Kerry Gammill at the Classic Horror Film Boards in 2002. The awards are fan-based, and have no connection to any commercial sponsor. Anyone in fandom can vote or propose nominees.

The 'Rondo' award itself, shown at right, features a bust sculpted by illustrator Kerry Gammill, and cast by modeler Tim Lindsey.

The statuette is a miniature version of the bust of Hatton seen in the Universal film, HOUSE OF HORRORS (1946). The Rondos have been praised by recipients for their quiet beauty and evocation of classic horror.

Nominees for the Rondo are selected from suggestions by horror fans, pros and enthusiasts offered all year at the CHFB. Each year's nominees are finalized by classic horror fan David Colton (taraco@aol.com), with the help of more than 20 classic horror fans from around the world, and with expertise in all parts of fandom.

Today, the Rondos have been announced and proven themselves to truly be the voice of the fans. It is with great pleasure that I announce WOMEN IN HORROR RECOGNITION MONTH has won a coveted Rondo for Best Fan Event. We'd like to congratulate the wonderful woman behind the event, Hannah Neurotica, for her outstanding contributions to horror and gender equality. Congratulations to everyone everywhere that took part in the Women In Horror Celebrations. Everyone who wrote an article, reviewed a film, had a film festival, attended a festival, submitted to a festival, threw an event, or gave blood. We're honored to have been a small part of such a grand event.

Can't wait until next year... ;)

Bloody Best!
