Get Your Own Fresh Dead Hooker and Hooker on Steroids Future Ambitions

Since the beginning of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, Jen and I have come to learn first hand that there is no such thing as overnight success. To follow your dreams, to make something that is important to you, to having that something - even a crazy GRINDHOUSE-inspired flick about a dead hooker that finds herself in a group of don't give a shit twenty-something's firebird's trunk - reach an audience around the world takes dedication, time, and focus. It also takes a horror community that loves these kinds of films the way that you do, who back you up like that buddy you can call at 3am when shit hits the fan because that's how fucking awesome they are.

Theron Neel and Planet Fury have always been that buddy to us. Supporting the flick from it's 'woah, there's some Canadian movie about a dead hooker, lol' stages to today where the film has been released this past May 23rd in the UK, courtesy of Bounty Films, and Australia, through Monster Pictures, a television premiere on the Horror Channel, multiple repeats of that showing, and then August 3rd, when IFC Midnight bought the final regions, released the film on VOD and limited theatrical screenings throughout the US, and on January 31st, 2012 - their DVD release of the flick will be upon us.

"It's been a long haul for Jen and Sylvia Soska's Dead Hooker. What began as a film school project morphed into an exploitation classic that attained near-mythic status on the festival circuit and transformed the Soskas into indie darlings along the way.

Sadly, though you've likely read about this flick, you probably haven't seen it. But, thanks to the beneficence of the folks at IFC Midnight, on January 31 you’ll finally get the opportunity to enjoy the Twisted Twins' debut feature.

Other than the repeated night of your life if you take this girl home, what do you get?

Director Commentary Track: Featuring Jen and Sylvia Soska, Recorded February 2011. The Twins discuss various aspects of the film and its creation set to screen specific moments.

Post-Production Commentary Track: Featuring Jen and Sylvia Soska with CJ Wallis. Recorded February 2011, this track will discuss some of the tricks and methods used along the way to side-step the time and budget limitations during production and post.

A Discussion With Carlos Gallardo: Shot in Carlos' home in Los Angeles shortly after completing his scenes, the Twins and Carlos discuss El Mariachi and the history and war stories of low-budget filmmaking.

Deleted Scenes: Several scenes that were deleted from the original version of the film due to pacing, etc.

What else do we have planned? Read the entire piece here and/or here - better read both for good measure - to get all the goods as we speak briefly about upcoming AMERICAN MARY, an actual sequel to HOOKER following in Rodriguez's DESPERADO footsteps, and all the things DEAD HOOKER. Thank you to Theron for always supporting the little guy, the little guy has been able to travel the world because of your faith and backing. Not too many dead hookers get spread around this far.. that came out wrong.. aw, fuck it... this is a huge fucking thrill and we cannot believe that this day is almost upon us!

Thank you for reading, watching, tweeting, blogging, screening, sharing, and caring, girls and boys. The horror community consists of the greatest folks on the fucking planet and you are all living proof. You can preorder this chick here (fuck yeah).

Dead Hooker in the Horror Booth with Emily

Emily Katherine Booth (born April 26, 1976), also known by her stage name Emily "Bouff" Bouffante, is an English actress and television presenter.

Booth is known for her roles in such cult films as PERVIRELLA, CRADLE OF FEAR, EVIL ALIENS, and the BAFTA nominated short film INFERNO. She also appeared in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez's double header GRINDHOUSE (2007) in the mock trailer "DON'T", by Edgar Wright (director of SHAUN OF THE DEAD).

Emily Booth is a badass, femme fatale with a love for B-Movies. You can see this cult status knock-out everywhere, whether she be presenting, acting in one of her ass kicking horror flicks, burning up the pages as a model, or making the world a better place. Seriously. She self-financed a trip to Cambodia to assist in a documentary in hopes of changing the face of the troubled country. Beautiful, talented, witty, and she has a big heart.

This past July 29th marked the beginning of The Horror Channel's television screenings of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK and it is an extremely hug fucking honor to have the fabulous Emily Booth presenting the flick.

That tweet made my life. I do not have The Horror Channel (for shame, I am humiliated) but my friend Trev Williams was kind enough to hook me up with Emily's Hooker Intro. Trev, you fucking rock, sir! Emily, this is so fucking cool of you! Here is the rad Horror Booth Intro --

Thank you for a wonderful introduction, miss Booth! Thank you to the Horror Channel for not only supporting independent horror, but also not shying away from the cruder of artistic expressions. Thank you to everyone who checked out the flick - you're support has brought this film to where it is today.

Now, I'm going to watch this intro a few hundred more times. To get more on the lovely Emily Booth, check out her official site here.

Cool Hooker Luke

There are few words that actually an put the feeling into text of having DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK not only released in the UK & Australia - courtesy of Bounty Films, released on VOD with a limited theatrical release in the US & Canada - courtesy of IFC Midnight, and now on television - courtesy of The Horror Channel. It's enough to keep these filmmakers feeling extremely humbled by the outpour of kindness, support, and enjoyment of the flick.

It makes our life to hear what people have to say about the project. It was a great ambition of ours to make a project that was fun to watch and completely insane - to know that we hit the mark means the world to us. The flick hit the Horror Channel this past July 29th and I was stoked to see that this lovely horror-loving gentleman took the time to check it out --

Thank you, Luke, for watching! Great reviews. What did Luke have to say about our HOOKER? --

From the bottom of our twisted black hearts, thank you for watching and reviewing. Thank you for watching the film, hearing our story, and pimping our HOOKER. This review made me smile - thank you for taking the time to watch it.

HOOKER hits the The Horror Channel again tonight with a special intro from the sinfully sensational, Emily Booth, via The Horror Booth! Please spend tonight in with our dead whore with your friends - you won't regret it.

Horrifically Awesome Interview with James

Jen and Sylvia Soska are twins who enjoy the darker side of cinema and their first movie, the wonderfully titled Dead Hooker In A Trunk is getting its UK TV premiere on Horror on July 29th. It's so cool Eli Roth called it "F***ing awesome" so we decided to have a quick chat with this talented pair.

Something that is too cool for words happened in our lives. On May 23rd, our film DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK was released in the UK and Australia. It was the UK Ghouls on Film Festival that first screened the flick and I gotta say that our overseas friends have been very good to us. At the end of this month - the 29th of July - DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK will be now making its television premiere in the UK on the wicked awesome Horror Channel.

Brutally outrageous bloodbath. Four disparate friends, the Badass, the Geek, the Goody Two Shoes and the Junkie face a fight for their lives when a dead hooker is inexplicably found in their car.

We had the great opportunity to chat with James Whittington of the Horror Channel about the flick, its release, how it got pulled off, and the joys of working with your identical twin --

HC: How do you two write; does one type whilst the other paces around the room?

Jen: Ha ha, Sylvie only paces when she's on the phone. Like a tiger in a cage. We used to write with the recipe card method that we read that Robert Rodriguez used. It worked well for a film like Dead Hooker In A Trunk. We wrote our "stand out scenes" on cards and spread them across the floor. From there, we filled in blank ones for how much time we would reasonably need to get from point A to point B. We have retired that method, for now. Now, we sit on opposite couches and throw ideas back and forth until we get one that we're both really excited about and we flesh it out from there. We write out a time line and then decide who wants what scene. Even then, we know who wants first crack at what.

Sylvia: We play video games usually and tag the other in. Our writing process is really fun when it's not completely stressful. That last part was a joke. What we do to first come up with a concept is just start talking about something cool we would like to see. If an idea is too mainstream, boring, or whatever - the other usually rips it apart before it has a chance to exist. It's a bit harsh, but it's important because the ideas that survive are the goodies. Then we plot out the story line in three acts, plan the main story elements and moments, and plan it out. We'll tell the story back to the other and mess around with different tweaks here and there. We call different sequences that we want to write and have the ability to tag the other in if we get stuck.

Thank you for a great and fun interview, James. If you don't know James Wittington, you can get caught up here with a read array of kick ass interviews by James for the Horror Channel. To read the whole interview clickity click here - hope you dig it.

A huge and humble thanks to you reading this and all of you that have helped us get to this point - it's because of your support that we've been able to get to this point. Can't hardly wait to share the new flick with you!

Dead Hooker On A Television

There are firsts in this life that you never forget.

You remember your first drink, your first date, your first kiss, your first time on a plane, your first pet, and your first crush, among numerous others. We have had the esteemed honor of achieving a number of unforgettable firsts with our first film, hope you've heard of her, our beloved baby, DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. We remember our first day on set, our first draft, our first fan email, our first film festival attended, our first film festival ever (sadly unattended), our first premiere, our first edit, our first review, our first interview, and so many others. We will always remember May 23rd (2011), the first day that DHIAT was ever released on DVD anywhere, simultaneously in Australia and the UK.

And now, another first that we will never forget. Our television premiere, the VERY first time DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK will ever be seen on TV. It is, to say the least, a momentous occasion that we are absolutely blown away by.

The Horror Channel is responsible for this outstanding occurrence.

On Friday July 29th (a lucky number for us as we were born April 29th), at 22:55 in the beautiful UK, the Horror Channel will be premiering DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK on television. It will be the first time it has ever graced the small silver screen and we couldn't be happier. Here's what they got to say...

"Dead Hooker In A Trunk – Friday 29th
Twin sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska are behind the brutal and shocking independent flick Dead Hooker In A Trunk, which must earn itself the “It Does Exactly What It Says” title of the month. The movie concerns four disparate friends, the Badass, the Geek, the Goody Two Shoes and the Junkie face a fight for their lives when a dead hooker is inexplicably found in their car."

We hope you will watch DHIAT and hope to hear from each and everyone of you. It's always been our most sincere hopes to make a film that was pure enjoyment for our audiences and then to share that film with as many people as possible. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and our work. We simply adore the Horror Community and everything we do, we do for you. After all, we our selves, are just fans of horror, too.

Be sure to tune in!!

Bloody Best!
Jen
