Fucking Cool Chronicles with the Diva of Cool - Drew Albright

Everybody always says that the entertainment industry is so competitive, but what we’ve been discovering on The Jimmy Star Show is that the most successful individuals don’t compete, and instead just focus on developing their own skills and working on their own projects. We’ve heard lots of advice from our featured guests not to wait for opportunity to knock on your door, and that in this day and age it’s easier and easier to create your own opportunities. And since this is the We the People issue, it may also be good to mention that collaborating instead of competing with other cool and successful people is a way to make the industry work better as a whole.
-Dr Drew Albright, BeyondEliteMagazine

Nous Vous Aimons Aussi, Mon Ami !

Growing up with a passion for horror, it was hard to fit in and difficult to find friends that shared our interests. Seeking anything horrific is not number one on the list to make friends in school, but if you are in school, love horror, and find it hard to fit in - don't even think of changing. These situations are temporary and really only teach you how to deal with assholes, and when you're all grown up, you will go out into the world and meet some cool people that will really get you.

One of our dearest friends is Frederic Courtin. We're still completely weird, but he likes that about us. As a matter of fact, Frederic - notre frère perdu long - shows us some of the best and bloodiest flicks on the scene - it's what good friends do. There's nothing better first thing in the morning than watching some masterful eviscerations.

Such a sweet and thoughtful video (below) is something that means a lot to us. Thank you for such a sentimental gift, mon ami. Please enjoy something so flattering that we will work very hard to deserve the kindness!

Thank you for being so kind to us, thank you for supporting us and our work, and thank you for being such good friends. This is a huge honor to working in this industry and having the ability to turn these strange stories into films for others to enjoy. More fun flick stuff coming - thank you for checking us out and promise to have lots of truly fucked up fun in the new flick!

Sam the Horror Man chats with the Twisted Twins Tonight!

Sam the Horror Man is the man. He is pictured above on the street where Laurie Strode in Halloween first encounters Michael Myers. Epic.

He's been a long time supporter of our exploits beginning from when our DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK first dragged it's ridiculous and demented self onto the horror scene. We've come a long way and it's a real pleasure to speak again with a friend who believed in us and our work from the very start of it all. Tonight, on The Savir Show we'll be re-united. He also writes for Bloody Disgusting, which we love like Freddy Kruger loves narcolepsy. He is one of the geniuses behind The Realm Cast which is a geek~gasmic site. It's spectacular and amazing and sometimes even "web of" (yeah, that's one for my fellow Marvel fanatics).

And just to add even more awesome to an already awesome show, fellow femme fatale, Andrea Albin will be on the show! It's the first time we'll be making voice to voice contact. We recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Andrea for STIFF Magazine alongside everyone's (and our) favorite badass director, Eli Roth. You can order yours here and get the full interview also here on The Albin Way, the wicked awesome blog of miss Albin.

Tune in tonight to hear The Twisted Twins share some awesome info in their filmmaking careers. Sylvia & Jen Soska. Tune in at www.viewen.com. / VRadio . 9pm-10pm CST/ 10pm-11pm EST/ 7pm-8pm PST.

Tune in tonight, boys and grrls!

Bloody Best!

Dead Hooker Is Bat Shit Crazy At Its Best

Some movies start off slow to lure you in, while some just take their time to find their pace. Others, like “Dead Hooker in a Trunk,” just don’t care about a slow beginning because it knows that in about 30 minutes it’s going to own your soul.
- Jason Lees, MoreHorror.com

The team at MoreHorror.com is sensational. A team consisting of people who live and breath the genre - they know their horror from the entrails out and use their vast knowledge not only to get the word out about rad horror flicks in general, but also are full supporters of the independents. Their site is a playground for any horror junkie - click here to get to the site for a full fix.

Just a couple weeks ago we had the lovely Tiffany Farrow release a piece on the IFC Midnight release of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. Even before the release, the team at MoreHorror.com was there pimping (pun intended) out the flick and getting the word out about the project --

Just when you thought it was safe to hit the streets and sell your body for money, something like this happens.

This indie horror film is ahead of its time and budget. The Soska Sisters have unleashed a sexy low budget Tarantino flavored flick--filled with blood, humor and gore titled 'Dead Hooker In A Trunk'. If you are a fan of all of the above, don't miss this movie.

It has awesome of awesome to wake up this morning to a fucking wicked review of the flick by Jason Lees of MoreHorror.com. What impression would the independent picture leave on this talented writer?

Dead Hooker in a Trunk is about this dead hooker in a trunk. Sort of. We open with two sisters (the multi titled writer/director/star/producing duo of the Soska Twins, Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska) and a few friends who are just going about their day when they get an odd whiff of something coming from the back of their car. From there, we get drugs, violence, loud LOUD music, and enough cursing to make Quentin Tarantino ears blush. The set up is a bit forced, but looking back at the film now, I’m pretty damn sure it was the Twins psyching the audience out. I think they knew their audience would be expecting something with a title like that so they kept their cards close their chest, so when they flash their hand, damn, it’s shocking.

Yes, the first half hour or so had me wondering what I was in for, with its loopy logic and less than waterproof plotting, but then we get this apartment invasion scene and damn it, it made me a fan in a big way. From that moment to its finale, “Dead Hooker in a Trunk” was calling the shots. Anything it wanted to show me, I’d believe. Someone loses an arm? Yea, I bet they’ll be okay. Someone gets nearly ripped in half? Of course I’ll buy them being fine in the next scene. This may be the Soskas debut feature, but they know how to handle an audience. They lead us through the story and take us right where they want us to go.

-Jason Lees, MoreHorror.com

A night with HOOKER well spent. Mwa ha ha ha. But in all seriousness, this kind of review means the world to us. It's honest, it's intelligent, and it leaves you with a sense of pride - you tend to feel like a hermit after three/four years of working on a film and you aren't sure if what you're going for is going to be what others see in the project. I am stoked that Jason enjoyed the flick - get his full rad write-up here. Thank you for taking the time to watch and review the film and a huge and humble thanks to the entire MoreHorror.com team for supporting this flick and so many other independents.

Thank you for reading, girls and boys! Please enjoy the review and please share DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK with your cool friends. May it give you 92 minutes of bat shit crazy fun!

Twisted Twins talk with Limited Release's Damien A.

It's been an incredible week with the DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK release by the gore~geous folks at IFC Midnight and with DHIAT playing all month on the UK Horror Channel.

We had the great and surreal joy of being on Twitter with our UK viewers as the film had it's television premiere last Friday.

We had the pleasure of meeting Damien A, of Limited Release, which is a fantastic site that focus on independent artists. It's just wonderful and if you yourself are an indie artist, I highly recommend you get in touch with them about what you're doing and to see who's doing what. There are so many incredible independent artists out there in the world. You should see what they're up to.

Damien was with us when we watched DHIAT along with our UK audience. It was our pleasure to chat with him.

Where did DHIAT come from?

How would we describe ourselves in a single word?

Where do we see ourselves in ten years?

What "remake" would we love to have a crack at?

What's up with American Mary?

What was it like to watch DHIAT on Twitter with our UK audience?

We answer all these goodies and much more. Check out the full interview right HERE.

Thank you most kindly to Damien for not only taking the time to talk with this Twisted Twosome, but also for sharing so many independents and their stories with the world.

Bloody Best!
Jen

Dead Hooker in the House of Vyle

A few weeks ago I had a chance to see a movie that had been on My "to watch" list, Dead Hooker In A Trunk. Yes, for those of you who have not heard of this film it probably sounds like it should be paired up as a grindhouse double feature with Hobo With A Shotgun, and yeah in all reality it probably should. This is the vision and debut film of Jen and Sylvia Soska, a pair of twins from Canada who are crafty, creative, sexy and definately twisted, as their Twisted Twins production company with a logo that is a pair of small "t's" which look like gravestones would imply.

Now I love independent films. even the really bad ones and especially off the wall ones. For those unaware before Peter Jackson began putting out Lord Of The Rings, and Sami Rami began making Spider-Man films that they had both churned out outrageous splatterfest like Brain Dead, Bad Taste and the Evil Dead Trilogy. So if Dead Hooker In A Trunk seems a little off the wall, wild and wierd, remember that some of the biggest names in movies started out the same way.

This is an excerpt from a recent review of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK as done by Master Vyle of House Of Master Vyle which is a pretty fucking cool blog with oodles of fun stuff to read about, but be aware that it has material of an adult nature, so if you're an adult and want to check out some fun 18 + fun (see above blerb) click here to get to the site - and you're welcome!

It is a very cool to this filmmaker that Master Vyle took the time to check out the flick and write such a nice thorough and thoughtful review of the piece. If you've been hearing about the film, but aren't sure whether it's for you (it is) please allow Master Vyle's awesome words bring you to our side --

If you like off the wall films like Bad Taste and Pink Flamingos then Dead Hooker In A Trunk is right up your alley. It's one of those movies you have to see to appericiate, but in My opinion it doesn't fall into that "so bad" it has to be seen to be appericiated films category, becuase in the end for all its cheesiness and lack of logic Dead Hooker In A Trunk is a great film. In fact I even told the Soskas if I was ever in an accident and lost a limb I hoped it happened in Canada, where it appears they're doing miricales with reattachments.

Click here for the entire piece and get acquainted with our HOOKER (cheeky)! Thank you to everyone who has been watching the film and getting the word out about the project.

Dead Hooker in the Horror Booth with Emily

Emily Katherine Booth (born April 26, 1976), also known by her stage name Emily "Bouff" Bouffante, is an English actress and television presenter.

Booth is known for her roles in such cult films as PERVIRELLA, CRADLE OF FEAR, EVIL ALIENS, and the BAFTA nominated short film INFERNO. She also appeared in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez's double header GRINDHOUSE (2007) in the mock trailer "DON'T", by Edgar Wright (director of SHAUN OF THE DEAD).

Emily Booth is a badass, femme fatale with a love for B-Movies. You can see this cult status knock-out everywhere, whether she be presenting, acting in one of her ass kicking horror flicks, burning up the pages as a model, or making the world a better place. Seriously. She self-financed a trip to Cambodia to assist in a documentary in hopes of changing the face of the troubled country. Beautiful, talented, witty, and she has a big heart.

This past July 29th marked the beginning of The Horror Channel's television screenings of DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK and it is an extremely hug fucking honor to have the fabulous Emily Booth presenting the flick.

That tweet made my life. I do not have The Horror Channel (for shame, I am humiliated) but my friend Trev Williams was kind enough to hook me up with Emily's Hooker Intro. Trev, you fucking rock, sir! Emily, this is so fucking cool of you! Here is the rad Horror Booth Intro --

Thank you for a wonderful introduction, miss Booth! Thank you to the Horror Channel for not only supporting independent horror, but also not shying away from the cruder of artistic expressions. Thank you to everyone who checked out the flick - you're support has brought this film to where it is today.

Now, I'm going to watch this intro a few hundred more times. To get more on the lovely Emily Booth, check out her official site here.
