In Wales, played a Dead Hooker...

I love... no, that's no strong enough... I fucking love when we hear about people's experiences watching 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk'. On Thursday, November 11th at 12:45pm by Wales, England time, the film was playing at the Abertoir Horror Film Festival. A very warm thank you to Nia Edwards-Behi who not only introduced the piece this year but also was the first to bring the rotting corpse of a whore across the oceans to the fine folks in the UK and to all of you that fancied a spot of hooker and acted on it! In particular, today I'd like to send the warmest regards to Mr. James Plumb who was in attendance and had this to say about the film --
"Day two starts off with an Intro by Abertoir stalwart Nia Edwards-Behi for the engagingly titled “Dead Hooker in a Trunk”, a film which I’ve read a lot about on various social networking sites (such as this one) so I was excited to see if it lived up to its internet hype and its awesome title. I’m glad to report that the film exceeds both.

The natural evolution of grindhouse exploitation films, without resorting to adding aging effects to the footage, “DHIT” delivers on its tease of sleaze, muscle cars and ultraviolence. But its also a film with real heart, as you genuinely grow to care about the characters. Directed with amazing confidence by the Twisted Twins themselves, the Soska sisters, the only criticism I can muster is a muddy sound mix, which sometimes detracted from the fun on screen. That being said if you’re yearning for a mix of “Switchblade Sisters” and “Weekend at Bernie’s” then look no further!"

That kind of sentiment warms a pair of cold Canadian, twisted hearts. Thank you very kindly for those kind words, sir. We are honored to have had the film so well received - this is every little horror girls dream come true. Thank you to everyone who has seen it, wanted to see it, spread the word, and shared it with their friends. None of this would be possible without you.

Tomorrow, there will be a blood bath in Texas. 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' will be playing at the Blood Bath 2 Film Festival in Dallas Texas. Get here details here, boys and girls. If you make it out, drop us a line and let us know what you thought. Fucking love hearing from you, boys and girls.

Bad Ronald reviews DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK

Bad Ronald likes him some movies. And he recently took a gander at our beloved first born feature, DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, and the man liked what he saw.
"Seeing the Soska Sisters in action will answer that age old question of what would happen if Quentin Tarantino were to mate with the Suicide Girls?"

Oh, my. He used the "Q" word. The man certainly knows how to charm a Twisted Twin. He goes on to say...

But, wait! If I say it all on here, why would you read the review? Silly me, you'll just have to read it all HERE.

Bloody Best!

I Can Smell Your DEAD HOOKER's Brains...

I Can Smell Your Brains? Not just the token catch phrase of choice preferred by zombies everywhere! It also just happens to be a wicked awesome site that recently reviewed our DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK...

"Dead Hooker in a Trunk is young, bloody, at times cute, at times sexy, and funny. It is aimed at your horror loving, drama loving, laugh along sensibilities. If you get a chance to see it, I suggest you take it. I believe the Soska Sisters want you to come away The ladies!from this film with a good feeling.

You have just taken care of a major problem, and now life can go on. And of course, what’s the best way to deal with your problems? Bury them in the woods and for fuck’s sake, and entertainment value, bring a friend."

We want to thank Mary Goff for her gore~geous review, absolutely delicious. Treat yourselves, boys and grrls, and chow down on the FULL FILM REVIEW HERE!!

I Like Horror Movies Loves DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK!

"DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK completely lives up to its title, with all of the gratuitous gore, violence, and sexuality that fans crave. It is like watching a psychotic and ultra-violent live-action comic book on cocaine. The scattered plot never needs to make any sense when every scene is more unexpected than the last."

We Twisted Twins are absolutely, down right giddy over this gore~geous new review for DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK. Posted by Carl Manes of I Like Horror Movies, mister Manes was in attendance at this weekend's HORRIBLE IMAGININGS HORROR FILM FESTIVAL OF SAN DIEGO. A very special thanks to Carl for coming out and taking the time both to check out our demented little baby and to Miguel Rodriguez for putting the festival together and having our Hooker out for the party!

GrimmUpNorth 2010: projectcyclops finds a DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK and laughs his ass off!

We Twisted Twins lament that we were unable to attend the oh-so-wonderful Grimm Up North film festival in Manchester. It's a long way over that pond. We were absolutely delighted to find a review from an attendee of the festival, Project Cyclops of Quiet Earth. And what mister Cyclops has to say is....
"Completely off-the-wall comedy in uniquely dead-pan, black as pitch style, Dead Hooker in a Trunk almost defies description but I’ll give it a go. Two identical twin sisters who happen to be exact opposites – one a Badass chick, the other a Geek – have crazy adventures with their respective best friends, a heroin addicted feminist punk rock singer Junkie, and a starch shirt wearing fundamentalist Christian Goody Two-Shoes. After a night out clubbing in Vancouver, Badass and Junkie have major hangovers, but agree to drive Geek sister to church to meet her Jesus-freak boyfriend. After some bluster during which someone is set on fire, the gang discover the titular Dead Hooker in their trunk, and panic. What follows is one of the craziest, funniest and most inventive films I have ever seen."

The review is not only honest and thoughtful, but gore~geously written, chalk full of wit, humor, and a touch of cheekiness (God bless cheekiness...).

Feast on the full film review from Project Cyclops HERE.

Thank you from the bottoms of our Twisted little hearts to the Grimm Up North Festival for having us, thank you to Project Cyclops for taking the time to both view and review the film, and thank you to all the fans in attendance! We wish we could've been there in the flesh, but the future is bright and we will make our way over the pond. A much over due visit, indeed. Pints for everyone, Sylvie's treat (ha ha ha)...

Jen

How Horrible our Film Fest will be... Horribly Awesome!

"Halloween is over but you can still find something scary in San Diego. Here's a preview of the inaugural Horrible Imaginings Film Festival playing this Saturday at the Tenth Avenue Theater beginning at 1:00 pm.

If you're a horror fan like myself and are counting the 361 days left until next Halloween then here's something to make the wait a little easier: Horrible Imaginings Film Festival. The film festival serves up horror features and shorts both old and new as well as two floors of artwork. This celebration of horror is the brainchild of Baltimore transplant Miguel Rodriguez, who saw a need for more horror in San Diego and decided to try and fill it."

This is an exert from an article by Cinema Junkie - Beth Accomando of KPBS San Diego: Public Radio, TV, and Web News and we couldn't agree more - we're not ready to give up our love of the spooky and strange - hell, we embrace it year round. Coming up this weekend is the first horror genre film festival of San Diego - The Horrible Imaginings Film Festival - brainchild of Miguel Rodriguez who decided to bring the splatter to the people and the people couldn't be more stoked!
"What people can expect from the film festival," says Rodriguez, "is people can walk around, meet other people who are like-minded and like the same type of genre. They will be able to expect artwork of dark or macabre nature, and also a number of films including two classics that are being screened over the course of the 12-hour period.

Twelve hours may sound like a long time to spend in the dark getting scared but the festival is broken up into two halves representing two different kinds of horror.

"I wanted to showcase how the horror genre can bring out different ways that people communicate fear," Rodriguez explains, "And that could be either from a psychological way or from a more visceral way."

We met Miguel at this past year's Viscera and Bleedfest Film Festival and we horror aficionados know one another when we meet them. Nicest, most down to earth, funny gentleman ever who knows his horror inside and out. When he decided to bring the genre fest to the people of San Diego, we knew something special was a'brewin' and now the time is almost upon us! This weekend it happens. It was a huge honor when Miguel requested 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' to play in the fest --
"The enticingly titled "Dead Hooker in a Trunk." (I mean how can you resist a film with a title like that!)

"It's a very fun kind of grindhouse film," says Rodriguez who can't help but smile at the mere mention of the title. "Just go for the ride. Turn the brain off and have a lot of fun."

The film was made in Canada by identical twin sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska, and the female characters they play are anything but passive victims. The film is an uneven, ultra-low budget project fueled by wild energy and do-it-yourself inventiveness."

Exactly what we wanted when we created the film, something that is fun to watch, you have a blast, and makes the girls and the boys feel like they can kick ass! Badass has that affect on people, she's a special type of girl. Now read the whole article, girls and boys, you'll be glad that you did!

If you can get to it, call in sick and start driving now - go check out this festival and bring your friends. Now that The Horrible Imaginings Film Fest has arrived in San Diego, it's here to stay! Thank you to Beth for getting the word out about this fantastic fest, Miguel for creating it and giving a voice to horror in the community, and for all the fans and film makers alike for loving the genre - you are the best quality of people in the world!

Dallas News takes a Blood Bath 2!

It's coming up so soon! 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' returns to Texas to the North American festival that first showed the original cut -- Blood Bath 2. Now that we've trimmed the fat with a slicker, quicker, more hookery Hooker we can't wait to have her play with the incredible lineup. People are getting excited, as they should. Here's what the media - in the form of DallasNews.com - has to say about it --
"October is over, but thank you Blood Bath folks for understanding that doesn't mean we need to put horror films to bed till next Halloween . Oak Cliff's historic Texas Theatre gets a little gory November 13-14 when Blood Bath 2: The Film Festival puts on two days of "a celebration of independent horror cinema showcasing feature and short films from around the world." The festival is the world premiere for the feature films Kodie, filmed locally in Dallas by Abel Berry and Jennifer Stone, and The Super. It's also the American premiere of feature film Fell.

There's an after party Saturday night at the Muddy Waters (4314 Live Oak St.) with special musical guests Jack O'Hara Harris, The Lash Outs, and The Whiskey Folk Ramblers starting at 10 p.m. Tickets to the fest are $7 per feature-length film, $15 per day, or $25 for the weekend."

You know, that's right. What about the fine features that are playing at the festival? The article goes on to give you a good outline of the other films, one that I have been dying to see is 'Kodie', but what is it about? Well, what DallasNews.com has to say, gentle reader, is --

"KODIE tells the story of David, a paranormal investigator, who has come to a point in his life where everything he cares about is being ripped away in domestic turmoil. He soon finds himself and his team caught in a world of a murderous little girl named Kodie in the form of a teddy bear. Many of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A following the film."

Say whaaaaaaaaaat? Yes. Yes, yes, and YES. It will be all forms of rad. I've heard a lot of good things about this one and there's some sweet hooker love in the article too stating that also playing, the film by --
"Canadian twins Jen and Sylvia Soska's DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, which has become an underground cult fan favorite while winning many awards at festivals all around the world"

Huge thanks to DOA Blood Bath Entertainment and Andrew Rose for their constant support from the get go, their beautiful hard work to create a great festival for folks that love the red stuff, and for being such dear friends to a pair of twisted twins. Thank you so kindly! Looking forward to this one. Big time.
