Nous Vous Aimons Aussi, Mon Ami !
Growing up with a passion for horror, it was hard to fit in and difficult to find friends that shared our interests. Seeking anything horrific is not number one on the list to make friends in school, but if you are in school, love horror, and find it hard to fit in - don't even think of changing. These situations are temporary and really only teach you how to deal with assholes, and when you're all grown up, you will go out into the world and meet some cool people that will really get you.
One of our dearest friends is Frederic Courtin. We're still completely weird, but he likes that about us. As a matter of fact, Frederic - notre frère perdu long - shows us some of the best and bloodiest flicks on the scene - it's what good friends do. There's nothing better first thing in the morning than watching some masterful eviscerations.
Such a sweet and thoughtful video (below) is something that means a lot to us. Thank you for such a sentimental gift, mon ami. Please enjoy something so flattering that we will work very hard to deserve the kindness!
Thank you for being so kind to us, thank you for supporting us and our work, and thank you for being such good friends. This is a huge honor to working in this industry and having the ability to turn these strange stories into films for others to enjoy. More fun flick stuff coming - thank you for checking us out and promise to have lots of truly fucked up fun in the new flick!

HOOKER Sold Out in One Day at Amazon UK

"Holy $#!T Amazon UK just messaged me that Dead Hooker in a Trunk sold out! So I'll be getting it on the 13th! This is the first time I am ever happy to hear something is on back order. Gratulálok hölgyeim, sok szeretetet és boldogságot az Ön számára is!"
This is why I love living in a technological age. I read a tweet the morning that our film - DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK - sold to the fabulous folks at Bounty Films. The same folks that released the film yesterday to the United Kingdom and Australia and we couldn't be more stoked. We received the above message later that evening that the supply that Amazon UK had of the film was sold out that day.

I've received notice that there is a new supply and everyone who hasn't ordered can still get their HOOKERs, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you, boys and girls, for making this film and this release such a success.
This is a testament to the horror community and what your support has made happen. We were hoping that people would want to buy the film, we never expected this huge honor of having so many units purchased on its release.

Thank you to each and every person who talked about this film, shared it with a friend, promoted it, took the time to check it out, and those who decided they wanted to take that indie flick home with them.
You guys are so fucking cool - thank you very humbly.

Dead Hooker in a Trunk Released Today in the UK and Australia!

Today is a huge day for us as Bounty Films releases DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK everywhere in the UK and Australia.

The DVD includes a Behind the Scenes Making of documentary, deleted scenes, directors and technical commentaries, and an interview on indie filmmaker with Carlos Gallardo.
Buy it now here and have a DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK of your very own!
"Do you remember the always fun classic movies, movies back when movies were cool, that involved a group of people, often friends, who are suddenly, and unwillingly, thrust into a dangerous situation, forced to either deal with what's landed on their proverbial laps, or face the consequences of their failure to act swiftly? These sort of films have always been a favorite of mine and Dead Hooker In A Trunk has brought back those kind of movies that have meant so much to me throughout my life as a fan of the cinema."-Scott Ruth, D'ment'd Cinema
There are few words to describe accurately the swelling of pride and humble gratitude that this film stirs in us. Firstly, the team who came together to make the film without ever wanting anything in return than to make a great project. There would be no film without your tireless dedication and creative drive - you gave us the best experience of our lives in the creation of this film and the film itself is proof of the immeasurable talent that exists in the Canadian film community.

“Watching Dead Hooker in a Trunk is like having the best bare backing sex of your life while hopped up on junk with a fugly prostitute in a seedy motel room on the wrong side of town.”
– TWITCH Film
"Every once in awhile a film comes out of left field that is such a innovation in film making that within moments of starting it you just know that you are witnessing something important that will one day become a cult classic that other aspiring film makers will look to for inspiration. This is exactly the sort of film Dead Hooker in a Trunk is and the twisted twins Jen and Sylvia Soska are destined to become a part of the next generation of iconic horror writers and directors." - Ted Brown, Bloody Disgusting
This wouldn't be happening without the wonderful teams at Industry Works and Bounty Films who believed in this project and loved it for everything it is - complete insanity and a love letter to the grindhouse indie spirit of filmmaking. Evan, Kathryn, Hannah, Cathee, and Tom - you put faith in us, you worked your asses off to get the film out there, and now you are giving us the opportunity to continue creating with AMERICAN MARY. It never feels like work when collaborating with the professionals at Industry Works - you are our extended family and we love you. Ben Hellwig, I can't wait to meet you in person, sir. You are a fucking rockstar of awesome. Steve Hill, thank you for orchestrating the press to let people know about us and the film - you have been brilliant. Thank you to the entire team at Bounty Films who have done a remarkable job getting DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK out there for the public. Jen and I will never forget this day.

"Sometimes the truly creative hand us a movie whose title packs as much punch as the movie itself, luring us in and giving us not only what title promises, but more coolness to spare. Hot Tub Time Machine, Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Natural Born Killers spring to mind. In 2009 Jen and Sylvia Soska- two Vancouver film school drop-outs- wrote, produced, directed and acted in their own hometown horror-comedy, Dead Hooker in a Trunk, and the fruit of their labors is every bit one of those aforementioned pictures.
They delivered on the title, albeit without the putrefaction we so loved from the dead hooker in the mattress in Robert Rodriguez's "Misbehavers" short (from the anthology Four Rooms), and they yielded a 92-minute hodge-podge of heightened gore, deadpan gags and solid, admirably rough-and-tumble female leads with lines like, 'You think dying's gonna kill me?'" - Bob Freville, Kotori Magazine
Last February, DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK had its first screening at the Ghouls on Film Festival in Birmingham, UK thanks to Nia Edwards-Behi. The UK love didn't stop there as we were invited back to the Abertoir Film Festival - thank you kindly to Gareth 'Gaz' Bailey for the honor - and then the Jennifer's Bodies Film Festival - thank you to the wonderful Jennifer Cooper who we completely adore. Even the fabulous Grimm Up North Film Festival showed a little HOOKER to their audiences. This isn't a usual story - none of this would have happened had people not banded together to support our work and the film.

This is just as much a special day for the horror community that demanded that the film get out there and be seen as it is for us. There is nothing that a group of dedicated people cannot do. You made this release happen. We promise to keep working hard to make work that is twisted and enjoyable for many years to come - each project a thank you to the people who made our greatest ambitions come true.

Please enjoy the film, let us know what you think. We are working away on the new film, AMERICAN MARY, which we can't hardly wait to share with you.

As for the rest of the world release news for DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK - we have something very special in store to reveal very shortly.
Thank you most kindly, girls and boys.

Have A Fucking Brilliant Weekend!

Hello, boys and girls. There have been so many news updates and I just wanted to have a little heart to heart with my favorite friends. Prep on our second upcoming feature, AMERICAN MARY, continues to go strong. What is the difference between making a feature by maxing out your credit cards versus an actual budget? Almost everything, but knowledge is power and it's school time for the twisted twins once again. What's the same? Working with an incredible, driven, and ambitious team to bring this new story to life.
This is all possible because of you. You - reading this blog, you - who watched DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, you - who wants to watch HOOKER, you - who talked to a friend about the work, you - who wrote a piece about a project, you - who interviewed us, you - who read any of the pieces. It's not a common situation where two first time directors can make a piece like HOOKER and have so much support from the community that they can go on to have a generous budget to make another one. It all happened in about three years and you have been there standing beside us, being utterly rad. Thank you for making a pair of horror nerds' greatest dreams come true.

We are working hard to make sure this next film is a thank you for all your efforts and support. We promise you that AMERICAN MARY will be like nothing you have seen before and a real bloody, dark treat for all us horror nerds. Thank you for standing here with us - it's a true honor to be in your company.

Have a fucking brilliant weekend, boys and girls. Watch some horror, hang with your homies, and have some fun! Be talking to you lots and soon.

It's an Honor to have a Shrunken Head Named After You

Yup, you totally did read that right. The above shrunken heads are named after yours trulys, Sylv and myself. Although, I'm not entirely sure which is which. What is certain that we are quite touched that our friend, film maker Mike Ascher, would think of us when naming his shrunken heads.
You, sir, kick ass.
Bloody Best!

This Is What A Hooker Fan Looks Like Vol. 2

It's all in the attitude. Just throw those mitts in the air like you just don't care... about anything but punk rock radness! This lovely lady is Steph, friend of dead hookers everywhere, looking awesome in indie support and fashion. Thank you for sporting the T, Steph. You are beyond lovely and you're doing my favorite pic pose!

The 'Sign of the Horns' is rad. But where did it come from? And why do we use it to underline what we're passionate about? Let's see what rock-God, Ronnie James Dio, had to say:
From a 2001 interview with Ronnie James Dio on Metal-Rules.com:
Metal-Rules.com – "I want to ask you about something people have asked you about before but will no doubt continue to talk about, and that is the sign created by raising your index and little finger. Some call it the "devils hand" or the "evil eye." I would like to know if you were the first one to introduce this to the metal world and what this symbol represents to you?"
R.J. Dio – "I doubt very much if I would be the first one who ever did that. That's like saying I invented the wheel, I'm sure someone did that at some other point. I think you'd have to say that I made it fashionable. I used it so much and all the time and it had become my trademark until the Britney Spears audience decided to do it as well. So it kind of lost its meaning with that. But it was...I was in Sabbath at the time. It was symbol that I thought was reflective of what that band was supposed to be all about. It's NOT the devil's sign like we're here with the devil. It's an Italian thing I got from my Grandmother called the "Malocchio". It's to ward off the Evil Eye or to give the Evil Eye, depending on which way you do it. It's just a symbol but it had magical incantations and attitudes to it and I felt it worked very well with Sabbath. So I became very noted for it and then everybody else started to pick up on it and away it went. But I would never say I take credit for being the first to do it. I say because I did it so much that it became the symbol of rock and roll of some kind."

Now all I need to do is get Dio a Hooker T and this post is complete! Hmm... Thank you for all the pictures, messages, and everything, boys and girls. The film would have no life without you and I am so grateful. Keep those pictures and messages coming -- we want to hear from you all!

This Is What A Hooker Fan Looks Like
'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' or any film - indie or studio - would be absolutely nothing without fans. With the word 'fan', I am referencing the blood and heart that gives life to a film. It crosses countries, it fills the viral world, it makes a film soar.
We can never thank you enough for telling your friends, blogging, and passing on the Hooker good word. What we can do is promise you that we will always appreciate you and never take you for granted. That is why when we see an awesome shout out for Hooker, we shout right back. Here are a couple of pics of the Hooker hardcores. You rock!

Emilie Croteau Blair looking lovely in black and Hooker.

Did you like the music in Hooker? Lead singer for Fake Shark-Real Zombie! (soundtracking for Hooker), Kevin James Maher, getting his Hooker on.
Do you have a Hooker pic? Pass it on! Do you want Hooker swag? Check out the store on our main page.
